Charley Crockett isn’t one to wait for opportunities; he creates his own. The GRAMMY®-nominated Texas-born artist has built a career with 14 independent albums and a reputation for selling out major venues. Known for blending rebellious country with a gritty work ethic, Crockett’s music has earned praise from outlets like Rolling Stone and Variety. In 2024, he received his first GRAMMY® nod for $10 Cowboy, and his sold-out shows at Red Rocks, the Greek Theatre, and the Ryman Auditorium cemented his place in the scene.
Produced with Shooter Jennings, Lonesome Drifter captures Crockett’s raw energy, recorded live at Sunset Sounds in Los Angeles. The album channels classic outlaw country, influenced by icons like Waylon Jennings. It’s the product of years of struggle, growth, and dedication, culminating in a sound that reflects Crockett’s journey as a troubadour.
The title track evokes his early days, while songs like “Game I Can’t Win” and “Night Rider” explore themes of perseverance and survival. Crockett’s connection to legends like Woody Guthrie shapes his storytelling, while his re-cut of “Jamestown Ferry” and cover of Amarillo By Morning showcase his evolution and respect for tradition.
Having lived through tough times, from busking on the streets to recording on a weed farm, Crockett’s music is shaped by his life experiences. Lonesome Drifter is the next chapter in his ongoing journey as a storyteller. “If this Island thing goes well, maybe I’ll take a breath... but I’m not ready to do that yet.”
