Jake Owen & Lady Antebellum

Country entertainers Jake Owen and Lady Antebellum hit the Event Center stage on Saturday, October 11 for a night filled with some great country hits!
In the summer of 2006, three gifted young adults walked into a house hoping to create music together—and Lady Antebellum walked out. Already the trio has won “Top New Group” at the 2008 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, and they are nominated for CMA Vocal Group of the Year alongside such greats as Rascal Flatts and the Eagles. They’ve watched the group-penned first single from Lady Antebellum, “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,” soar up the country radio charts, while its video has become a staple on CMT and GAC. They’ve performed on the legendary Grand Ole Opry, served as the opening act on Martina McBride’s 2008 arena tour, and opened shows for Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Rodney Atkins and Little Big Town. Outlets like Billboard, Country Weekly, MSN Music and the Boston Globe included Lady Antebellum among their annual shortlists of artists to watch in 2008, and Nashville Lifestyles magazine flat-out called them “the next big thing.” With a one-of-a-kind vocal chemistry that evokes the tradition of classic country, an up-to-the-second modern sound, and a songwriting partnership that’s both timely and timeless, Lady Antebellum offers a combination that’s both shockingly fresh and as familiar as an old friend.
After Lady Antebellum rocks the house, Jake Owen takes the stage to perform hits like “Startin’ With Me”, “Yee Haw”, and “Something About A Woman”. Startin’ With Me is Owen’s debut album, which - as the young artist points out - is entirely composed of songs he wrote or co-wrote. “When I look at my life, where I am right now, I know how improbable it is. I am totally aware of that. I haven’t been doing it and dreaming about it since I was five years old, it doesn’t run in my family, I didn’t grow up singing in church, I didn’t spend 10 years in honky-tonks. But I have always worked hard at whatever I have done, whether it was golf or writing songs or playing at Potbelly’s in Tallahassee. I feel like things happen for a reason, and we are each here for a reason. I hope that my music and my songs can touch people, like I have been touched by other artists’ songs. I think it’s something from the heart, and who can measure that?”
